Program Registration

The Basic Research Forum is committed to diversity and inclusivity. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in this event!

Abstract submission is not required to register!

There are no fees for registration or abstract submission!

1. Abstract Submission (Open)

  • ABstract Session - Virtual event

  • Friday, October 31st

Deadline for abstract submission: Wednesday, August 20th at 11:59 PM PDT

The abstract forum will take place in a virtual format. There is no fee for abstract submission.

Abstract submission to the Basic Research Forum is independent from Kidney Week 2025 annual meeting submission.

Abstract submission is not required to attend this forum.

Please also register if you would like to attend the Basic Research Forum, regardless of abstract submission, so we can send you the virtual meeting room information.

2. Career Development Event (Open)

  • in-person during asn kidney week in Houston, TX

  • Friday, November 7th: 10:30am - 12:30pm PDT

    • Session 1: Diverse Types of Funding - representatives from the NIH, Kidney Cure, and the Polycystic Kidney Foundation will answer questions and describe trainee funding opportunities

    • Session 2: Alternatives to Academic Careers - Q&A with Susan Allison, Chief Editor of Nature Reviews Nephrology, and a Biotechnology Industry Representative

    • Session 3: Academic Career Path Keynote - Dr. Joseph Bonventre will talk about their experience in academia

Come join senior leaders and early career faculty in the field for a career development session focused on fostering careers in basic science research!

3. Networking Event

Take part in small lunch groups which will take place after the career development event for trainees and junior faculty to meet each other and connect. Established investigators are welcome too!
